Menstrual Blood Clots

Image
During your period it is normal for menstruating females to pass blood clots but not a lot of women understand why. These clots are a mixture of blood and tissue that is shredded from the uterus lining. The amount and the size of a female’s menstrual blood clots can vary depending on her diet and lifestyle choices. According to  Cristiana Sandor , CEO of  Stetho Health Systems  ,“Women are as diverse as our world, and the more we reflect on them the better we can understand their needs.” Not every menstruating woman has the same cycle, and one woman may experience different size menstrual clots than another. Menstrual blood clots form to help the body from losing too much blood. These clots are natural, and usually appear when a woman has a heavy flow. These blood clots are typically bright red as they are passed quickly and do not have time to oxidize. If you are passing clots that are dark in color it can be due to passing clots that are made of old blood. Blood ...

How to naturally ease period cramps

Image
Roughly 80% of menstruating women experience period cramps. Period cramps can affect a woman’s day-to-day life due to the pain and discomfort women experience from them. Period & Pregnancy

Image
Did you know that your period and pregnancy go hand in hand? A period is the result of a female’s body not becoming pregnant during ovulation but when she does become during ovulation a female’s body will no longer menstruate as her body is already prepared for menstruation. Let’s define two words: menstruation and ovulation. Menstruation is the natural process that occurs to a female’s body roughly every 28 days and can last anywhere between 3 and 8 days. Menstruation is the process in which a female’s body sheds the unfertilized egg that was released during ovulation along with the lining of the uterus and blood. Ovulation on the other hand is the process in which a female’s body releases an egg from her ovaries into the fallopian tubes in order to be fertilized. Ovulation can take place 12 to 14 days before a female’s next period. Now that we have defined what menstruation and ovulation you now have a better idea as to why pregnancy and your period go hand in hand. When a fema...

Sustainable Periods: Limit Waste

Image
There are roughly 3.9 billion women in this world. Of those 3.9 billion women, 2.3 billion women lack access to basic sanitation methods. That leaves us with 1.6 billion women that have access to basic sanitation. Of those 1.6 billion women,  according to WaterAid , 800 million women, aging from puberty to 35-40 years of age, are menstruating. If we assume that 30 percent of the 800 million menstruating women use sanitary pads, that will give us roughly 240 million women that use only sanitations pads and 560 million women that use other forms of basic sanitation. Women generally get their cycle for 2 to 7 days, lasting up to 10 days, every month. If menstruating women use 6 sanitation pads per cycle, that is 1.4 billion sanitation pads per month and 16 billion sanitation pads per year that end up in our landfills.    What is a Sustainable Period?    A sustainable period is reducing the amount of waste menstruating women use while on their periods...
